Supervisor, Medical Referrals- Houston, TX
About the role
The Supervisor, Medical Referrals schedules and pre-registers patients for exams and procedures with specialists and providers outside of the primary care physician's office. The Supervisor works within prescribed guidelines and procedures, using judgment requiring analysis of variable factors to solve basic problems. Additionally, the Supervisor collaborates with management and top professionals/specialists in selection of methods, techniques, and analytical approach. The Supervisor gathers and communicates all relative information and preparation instructions to patient and referring providers. Decisions are typically related to schedule, plans and daily operations. This role performs escalated or more complex similar work, and supervises a group of typically support and technical associates; coordinates and provides daily oversight to associates. Ensures consistency in execution across team and holds team members accountable for following established policies.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and pre-register patients for exams and procedures with specialists and providers outside of the primary care physician's office
- Work within prescribed guidelines and procedures using judgment requiring analysis of variable factors to solve basic problems
- Collaborate with management and top professionals/specialists in selection of methods, techniques, and analytical approach
- Gather and communicate all relative information and preparation instructions to patients and referring providers
- Perform escalated or more complex similar work
- Supervise a group of typically support and technical associates
- Coordinate and provide daily oversight to associates
- Ensure consistency in execution across team
- Hold team members accountable for following established policies
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, or 4 - 6 years in a physician office, health care, or managed care environment
- Experience in ICD-9, ICD-10 and CPT coding
- Prior management or supervisor experience
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products
- Valid driver's license and/or transportation necessary
- Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on improving consumer experiences
Additional Qualifications
- Certified Medical Coder with one of the following active certifications and with a high degree of competency: CPC, CPC-H, or CPMA from AAPC; or CCA, CCSP, CCS from AHIMA
- ICD-10 Certification
- CRC Certification through AAPC
- MRA and HEDIS knowledge
Work Environment
This role is Hybrid. We expect strong market wide center presence. Location: CenterWell Senior Primary Care Office in Houston, TX. You will report to the Market President, Primary Care.
Pay
$65,200 - $89,000 per year. This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan based upon company and/or individual performance.
