Responsibilities
- Support efficient operation of the manufacturing floor
- Handle confidential and time-sensitive material
- Familiarize with a variety of industry concepts, practices, and procedures
- Communicate effectively via phone and email, ensuring accurate and timely completion of duties
- Plan and accomplish goals independently
- Prepare an annual sales forecast aligned with product group marketing goals and sales management guidance
- Estimate sales costs, value of sales, and delivery schedules, and contribute to the overall budget for each product
- Understand and acknowledge day-to-day responsibilities for environmental, health, and safety
- Routinely conduct safety audits and develop action plans
- Periodically report progress on EHS responsibilities to the department manager, EHS administrator, or Plant Manager
- Train new employees on EHS procedures prior to starting job skills training
- Plan and direct daily activities within the department, either directly or through group leaders
- Manage order-processing flow to achieve “on-time delivery” and “lead-time” goals
- Identify and ensure timely completion of maintenance issues, including breakdowns, scheduled, and preventive maintenance
- Close out completed work orders daily
- Recommend staffing changes and/or overtime to meet production requirements
- Specify and/or requisition tools, fixtures, spare parts, and raw materials as needed
- Monitor and focus on increasing productivity within assigned areas, aiming for year-over-year improvements
- Ensure ongoing compliance with product quality requirements and identify opportunities for improvement
- Participate in scrap meetings, review work instructions, and conduct Control Plan audits
- Lead continuous improvement projects to meet established performance objectives
- Submit monthly update reports to the department manager
- Participate in internal ISO audits and address open Corrective Action Requests (CAR’s) in a timely manner
- Conduct regular scheduled communication meetings for assigned work centers
- Review plant quality procedures, discuss areas of highest non-conformance, maintain equipment cleaning assignments, and assess employee performance and efficiency
- Counsel employees as appropriate to address performance concerns or issues
- Complete an annual performance appraisal for each employee and arrange for their training needs
Requirements
- High school graduate, with a minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience or a 4-year secondary degree and 3-5 years of people supervision with proven ability in conflict resolution
- Basic professional knowledge of environmental, health, and safety issues
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, robust problem-solving techniques, material requirements planning (MRP), time and attendance, and computer software such as Microsoft Office and its companion programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook)
Qualifications
- High school graduate, 4- year secondary degree preferred with a minimum of 3 years manufacturing experience or 2 or more years of formal technical training beyond high school and 3-5 years of people supervision with proven ability in conflict resolution
Skills
