Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the daily manufacturing operations of the assigned department to achieve production and delivery of quality products within cost and schedule requirements.
- Perform work assignments, performance tracking, and metric reporting as part of our Daily Management System (TIER structure).
- Set clear expectations and accountability for production output and quality.
- Collaborate with Operations Management to execute cost, quality, and delivery strategies.
- Hire, train, coach, and develop manufacturing personnel.
- Promote technical growth and lean manufacturing capabilities within the team.
- Support workforce planning including scheduling, staffing levels, and overtime management.
- Proactively correct personnel performance deficiencies using the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) process through all the required steps.
- Maintain accurate employee records including training, quality, attendance, and performance.
- Supervise the timely and accurate reporting of labor and production data.
- Manage assigned projects and drive cross-functional teams to implement continuous improvement projects.
- Proactively identify problems, their root cause, lead cross-functional teams to develop and implement corrective actions.
- Escalate and eliminate obstacles to ensure 100% On-Time Delivery.
- Work closely with Engineering to identify and implement innovative technologies and optimize manufacturing processes.
- Partner with Production Control and Planning to ensure Master Production Schedule (MPS) is accurate and within Capacity to meet customer demand.
- Coordinate activities with Ops. Management to determine and adjust Long-Range Planning Capacity profiles.
- As required, act as customer interface.
- Ensure a safe working environment and compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Enforce compliance with AS9100, ISO9001, and company-specific quality systems.
Requirements
- Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Advanced degree in Manufacturing, Business, or Engineering is preferred.
- Equivalent military or manufacturing experience (10+ years) will be considered in lieu of degree.
- Minimum 2 years in manufacturing supervision or management preferred.
- Demonstrated success leading teams in regulated environments.
- Personnel management and development experience.
- Familiarity with shop practices, quality standards, and operational procedures.
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
- Understanding of AS9100 / ISO9001 quality systems and electronic assembly processes is preferred (e.g., soldering, PCB assembly, microelectronics, or precision electromechanical assembly).
- Strong leadership and communication abilities.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
