About the role
This classification oversees and coordinates contracted maintenance and repair services within the Division of Streets & Roads by planning, scheduling, inspecting, and verifying completion of work related to street maintenance, landscaping, debris removal, right-of-way upkeep, and other outsourced services.
Pay
Minimum salary: $24.75 per hour (non-exempt, overtime eligible). Pay Grade 518. Additional pay once required certifications are obtained: Hazardous Duty Supplemental Pay ($90/month, $0.52/hour) and CDL pay ($1.08/hour).
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate activities of contractors performing maintenance services such as mowing, tree trimming, litter control, sidewalk repairs, concrete work, or other street-related tasks
- Inspect work sites to ensure compliance with contract terms, safety regulations, and quality standards
- Monitor contractor performance and adherence to schedules; document and report any deficiencies or issues requiring corrective action
- Serve as a liaison between the city and contracted vendors, resolving disputes and communicating expectations
- Prepare and manage work orders, service requests, and maintenance logs for contracted projects; ensure contractor compliance with applicable policies and procedures
- Assist with procurement processes by developing scopes of work, obtaining quotes, and reviewing contractor bids
- Track budgets and expenditures related to maintenance contracts and report progress to management
- May supervise city personnel supporting or inspecting contracted work
- Perform related work as assigned
- Must be accessible for on-call duty and able to work weekends, holidays, and during emergencies, including snow removal duties during weather emergencies
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training that correlates to satisfactory completion of one year of college education
- Four years of related experience
- Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience
- Additional years of related experience may substitute for years of education
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must obtain a Valid Kentucky Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) - Class B with Endorsement N - and a valid Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner’s Certificate within the six-month probationary period
