General Purpose

Assists manager in supervising loss prevention and safety programs for a distribution center. Assists in enforcing policies and procedures relating to accident prevention, safety, health, environment, security, and fire prevention and protection. Assists with shortage program. Investigations internal and external.

Essential Functions

  • Maintains compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding safety, health, and environmental matters.
  • Reviews and follows up on accident investigation reports and develops methods to prevent additional accidents.
  • Coordinates, monitors, and maintains inspection records of fire protection equipment and conducts monthly drills to ensure fire fighting readiness.
  • Supervises, trains, and reviews performance of loss prevention associates. Schedules, assigns, and monitors the completion of assigned tasks.
  • Implements and monitors loss prevention policies and procedures to minimize theft and assists in investigations to maintain a smooth work flow.
  • Affirms contracted security officers' adherence to policies and procedures. Notifies vendor agencies of any issues or concerns and collaborates with vendors to facilitate resolutions.
  • Participates in safety, shrinkage, and fire committees to provide a safe and secure environment.
  • Conducts risk assessments and provides feedback for physical security enhancements.
  • Oversees daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly safety, shortage, security audit programs. Designs and implements Shortage Awareness Programs for DC employees.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or business administration preferred.
  • Three to five years of Distribution Center Loss Prevention experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of environmental, safety, health, and loss prevention practices and procedures desirable.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and environmental rules and regulations.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of distribution center associates.
  • Analytical ability to gather and interpret information and recommended solutions.
  • Maintain current certification in Basic First Aid, CPR, Oxygen administration (if applicable), and Blood borne Pathogens.
  • Pass a detailed background investigation that may include credit history, criminal history, and motor vehicle driving history.
  • Maintain a high level of integrity and adhere to the highest ethical standards.

Physical Requirements/ADA

Job requires ability to work in a warehouse environment, on a concrete floor all day. Requires continuous, standing, walking, hearing, pushing, and pulling. Consistent timeliness and regular attendance is necessary. Frequently reaches, bends, stoops, talks, hears (audio equipment), handles objects with hands and lifts to 50 lbs. Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
