Supervisor Information Technology
About the role
This position oversees the Information Technology (IT) department to enhance the functionality of the EHR/PM software used by Children’s Clinics. The role involves direct supervision of Analysts and Administrators and serves as the primary point of contact for internal and external clients, including management, IT professionals, end users, and key stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Directly manages all IT team members, operational and clinical users, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to review and understand customer requirements and specifications.
- Clarifies program intent, defines and resolves issues, and modifies templates or documents to suit custom workflows or client needs.
- Suggests changes and develops appropriate templates and software to meet custom workflows or client needs.
- Leads small to large-sized projects or initiatives and chairs the IT Steering Committee to determine high-priority tasks for the IT department.
- Understands the business and clinical strategy of specific areas and proactively works with customers to define necessary information for driving improvement.
- Supports and troubleshoots system architecture, database performance, and other aspects of the NextGen application at a high level with the support of System Analysts.
- Serves as the direct lead for relationships with external vendors, including contract negotiation and terms of agreement, working directly with the Chief Financial Officer.
- Performs other duties as required and assigned.
Requirements
- Knowledge of healthcare information systems, business and clinical operations, requirements analysis, and the functionality of core applications.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., The Joint Commission, OSHA, CDC guidelines).
- Demonstrated proficiency in technical and professional competencies, with the ability to rapidly acquire and integrate new knowledge to support the Clinic’s evolving IT landscape.
- Skill in data analytics, problem-solving, and critical thinking to assess system performance, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements.
- Ability to evaluate, document, and present recommendations for the selection, implementation, and optimization of vendor products aligned with the Clinic’s operational and patient care needs.
- Ability to provide technical guidance and support to clinical and administrative staff, including interpreting technical specifications and troubleshooting system issues.
- Ability to stay informed about emerging healthcare technologies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices to enhance operational efficiency and patient care.
- Ability to solve complex problems and make data-driven decisions that align with organizational priorities and long-term objectives.
- Adept at building trust, facilitating collaboration, and aligning with organizational goals through strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

- Proficiency in operating personal computers, calculators, fax machines, copiers, and other office equipment, with strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in management information systems or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: Two or more years of supervisory experience in a healthcare delivery setting.
- Two or more years of professional software support and development experience with NextGen EHR/PM or other healthcare applications (preferred).
- Licenses and Certificates: None required.
Employees in this position are required to maintain a current Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card. Evidence of a current and valid fingerprint clearance card must be received to begin and maintain employment.
