Airbus Commercial Aircraft is seeking a Supervisor of In-service Repair Certification to join our Mobile Engineering Center in Mobile, AL. This role reports to the Head of Airworthiness & Quality and ensures all airworthiness aspects of engineering activities comply with applicable EASA and FAA requirements.
About the Team
The Engineering Center in Mobile, Alabama houses hundreds of Airbus engineers who assist in the design and development of Airbus commercial aircraft cabins, including aftermarket upgrades, reconfigurations, and services for all product types globally.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day activities of the In-service Repair team, including task assignment, scheduling, delivery, and team performance.
- Ensure team performance meets schedule, cost, and quality targets.
- Allocate resources such as personnel, equipment, and budget.
- Identify training needs, provide guidance, and facilitate professional development of team members.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and address performance issues.
- Facilitate effective communication within the team, with other departments, and with stakeholders.
- Serve as a member of the Airbus Americas Engineering management team.
- Support EASA and internal DOA audits.
- Meet routinely with Airworthiness counterparts in Europe.
- Act as the focal point for Repair design assurance within the airworthiness function of Airbus Americas Engineering.
- Develop and support strategic projects related to in-service Repair certification in Airbus Americas Engineering.
- Work closely with Worldwide Airworthiness groups for Aircraft Repairs (1IA) to maintain all Service Level Agreements.
- Lead and conduct airworthiness approvals of Airbus products and product changes with the certificating Authority, and validate these approvals by importing countries' Authorities.
- Manage a varied, multi-ATA, and multi-program workload in accordance with Customer Services' business needs and customer expectations while ensuring conformity with certification requirements and DOA processes.
- Ensure good communication and exchange with other members of the global Certification Team and other certification functions to maintain consistency in the "Way of Working" and certification approach.
- Consult and challenge Technical, Change Management, and Certification Specialists to ensure appropriate solutions, particularly for in-service aircraft configurations and aircraft certification.
- Perform airworthiness approvals in accordance with Airbus Design Organization Approval (DOA) privileges, including Repair & Design Approval Form (RDAF) approval.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a relevant field. Preferred: Master’s degree in Engineering or a relevant field.
- 20+ years of progressive experience in engineering programs related to Commercial Transport Category aircraft.
- Progressive roles related to aircraft airworthiness certification topics, including product development, major modifications, and return to service of fleet aircraft.
- Experience in a complex, matrix organization.
- 15% domestic and international travel required.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
Work Environment
- 60% onsite, 40% remote.
- Daily use of vision for reading computer screens, documents, reports, and engineering drawings.
- Daily participation in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone, including hearing sounds on the production floor such as safety warnings or alarms.
- Daily speaking in conversations, meetings, and communications.
- Daily operation of personal computers, telephones, copiers, fax machines, and electronic identification cards.
- Several times a week: carrying and lifting documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg.
- Several times a week: pushing and pulling small office furniture, equipment, and tools.
- Daily sitting for long periods in meetings or while working on the computer.
- Several times a month: squatting or kneeling to retrieve or replace items on low shelving.
- Daily standing for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
- Daily walking through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces.
- Monthly independent travel at short notice.
