About the role

Routinely supervises other staff and maintains the home's operations in compliance with licensing rules. Assumes full management responsibilities in the absence of the ED/Administrator.

Responsibilities

  • Note and report errors in the administration of medications.
  • Develop and implement procedures to prevent medication errors.
  • Complete necessary forms, charts, reports, and participate in facility surveys/inspections.
  • Attend and participate in QA Programs, the Pharmaceutical Services Committee, and other facility committees.
  • Participate in Care Plan meetings and continuing education programs.
  • Provide assistance to residents with activities of daily living.
  • Work cooperatively with all other staff and maintain a friendly, productive relationship.
  • Resolve residents' needs and attend tours of the facility as needed.
  • Monitor the halls continuously and conduct orientation and supervision of staff.
  • Ensure the implementation of care plans and proper storage of medications.
  • Report any complaints or grievances made by residents to the Administrator.
  • Notify the Director of any concerns of neglect/abuse/exploitation by other staff.
  • Follow all regulations as required by federal HIPPA laws.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • At least 21 years old.
  • Minimum of six months of supervisory experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to lift, push, pull, and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Able to bend, stoop, squat, and reach overhead as needed.
  • CPR Certified or willing to become within 60 days of hire.
  • Have or obtain C.N.A. or Personal Care Aide Certificate within 6 months of hire.
  • Have or obtain 15-Hour Medication Aide Certificate within 30 days of hire.
  • Complete Medication Aide Check off within 30 days of hire.
  • Have or obtain Medication Aide Certification within 60 days of check off.
  • No substantiated findings on the NC Personnel Registry or Health Care Program during employment.
  • A clear SBI record during employment.
  • Two-step tuberculin skin test (first test prior to hire and second test within two weeks of first test).
  • Able to make independent decisions when warranted.
  • Able to deal tactfully with various individuals.
  • Able to work harmoniously with others.
  • Able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people.
  • Maintain resident confidentiality and rights at all times.
  • Available to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergencies.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to read, write, understand, and follow directions.

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Knowledge of adult care home safety procedures.
  • Understanding of HIPPA regulations.
