Responsibilities
- Supervise, coach, and support Room Attendants, Public Area Attendants, Housepersons, and other housekeeping team members.
- Conduct daily departmental briefings and communicate assignments, priorities, hotel activities, and operational updates.
- Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, productivity, and performance.
- Provide training and coaching to employees on proper housekeeping procedures and hotel standards.
- Recognize strong performance and address performance concerns promptly and professionally.
- Aid with scheduling and staffing needs based on hotel occupancy and business levels.
- Inspect guest rooms, corridors, public areas, and back-of-house areas to ensure cleanliness and proper presentation.
- Ensure rooms are cleaned according to Magnolia Hotel and Marriott brand standards.
- Follow up on guest requests, housekeeping-related complaints, and service recovery opportunities.
- Communicate maintenance issues, damaged items, and safety concerns to the appropriate department.
- Ensure lost-and-found procedures are followed consistently and accurately.
- Monitor room attendant productivity and ensure daily assignments are completed within established timeframes.
- Cook up room status updates with the Front Desk and other hotel departments.
- Aid with daily room assignments and prioritize rooms based on arrivals, departures, VIPs, stayovers, and special requests.
- Monitor housekeeping supplies, linens, amenities, and equipment.
- Report supply shortages, damaged equipment, and maintenance needs to management.
- Aid with inventory control and proper storage of housekeeping supplies.
- Ensure employees follow OSHA, hotel safety, sanitation, and chemical-handling procedures.
- Ensure proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals and housekeeping equipment.
- Report workplace injuries, accidents, hazards, and unsafe conditions immediately.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Ensure employees use appropriate personal protective equipment when required.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding guests, employees, and hotel operations.
- Complete daily housekeeping reports, inspection forms, productivity reports, and other required documentation.
- Communicate staffing, attendance, guest service, maintenance, and operational concerns to the Director of Housekeeping.
- Aid with employee training and onboarding.
- Participate in departmental meetings and hotel leadership meetings as requested.
- Support hotel initiatives, employee engagement activities, and company programs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous housekeeping experience required; supervisory experience in a hotel environment preferred.
- Strong understanding of hotel housekeeping procedures and guest service standards.
- Ability to inspect rooms and identify cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation issues.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, management, guests, and other departments.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced hotel environment.
- Must be able to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays, based on business needs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, and lift as required.
- Ability to lift and carry housekeeping supplies and equipment.
- Ability to navigate stairs and hotel guest room floors as necessary.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment for extended periods.
