Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise all garage activities, including directing employees, tracking parts, and monitoring work
  • Administer terms of labor contracts and vendor-related contracts and agreements
  • Review and approve Employee timecards
  • Audit completed repair orders for accuracy
  • Compile and run various fleet software reports as needed in relation to fleet operational needs including preventative maintenance and DOT inspections
  • All other duties as assigned

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    • Supervises Union Mechanics

    Required Education (certifications, licenses)

    • High School Diploma or equivalent required
    • Completion of a two-year course or equivalent in an approved automotive training program (i.e. Ranken Technical Institute) preferred
    • Valid driver’s license required, CDL Class “A” preferred

    Required knowledge, skill and abilities

    • Five or more years of relevant experience required, preferably with three or more years as a Journeyman Automotive Mechanic in an automobile repair shop (i.e. automotive dealership or heavy truck industry)
    • Three or more years of supervision of an automobile or equipment repair facility. (i.e. Automobile dealership, or construction equipment dealer)

    Physical demands, environment and schedule

    • Normal office conditions with the possibility of limited travel
    • Work is normally performed in an industrial garage environment Monday through Friday 7:00a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
    • On call responsibilities as required
