About the role
The Environmental Services Supervisor oversees and coordinates activities for all Environmental Services (EVS) staff, assisting the Manager in day-to-day operations. Responsibilities include training, scheduling, timekeeping, and managing invoices.
Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections of all areas cleaned by staff to ensure quality and standards are met.
- Inspect work and train staff on proper use of hospital equipment related to EVS.
- Review daily checkout reports to ensure all areas meet cleaning standards.
- Supervise and administer EVS activities, including scheduling, performance management, employee relations, and work prioritization.
- Demonstrate knowledge of cleaning and disinfection principles, chemical usage, equipment, and labor requirements for maintaining furniture, furnishings, and interior finishes.
- Oversee inventories, usage data, and ordering of consumable supplies and equipment repairs.
- Prepare work and time schedules under the Manager’s direction, coordinating vacation, holiday time, and approving timecards.
- Assist with selection, onboarding, orientation, training, and mentoring of EVS staff.
- Adhere to organizational safety, risk management, and infection control standards while promoting a culture of patient safety.
- Respond to emergency calls and shifting priorities to coordinate staffing changes and minimize disruption.
- Supervise subcontractors and EVS suppliers as needed.
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal and certification requirements.
- Role model the principles of Just Culture and Organizational Values.
- Perform other duties as assigned and maintain HIPAA compliance.
Requirements
- 5 years of housekeeping experience required.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting or supervisory experience preferred.
- Must possess, or obtain within 90 days, computer skills for online learning, forms, policies, and benefits enrollment.
- Working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking.

Pay
Hourly pay ranges from $21.92 USD to $31.32 USD, based on relevant education and experience.
