Supervisor Environmental Services
About the role
The Environmental Services Supervisor at Holy Cross Hospital Jordan Valley provides day-to-day supervision for the EVS department under guidance of Director and/or Manager. They ensure a consistently high level of environmental hygiene and aesthetics to patients, visitors, and staff. This position also oversees regulatory standards, financial stewardship of department operations, and collaborates with other management team members to support the department in its daily functions.
Responsibilities
- Trains and develops a highly equipped and engaged Environmental Services Team using evidence-based techniques, process, and mission metrics (KPIs) to ensure a clean safe environment as we help save lives.
- Provides supervision of staff, making sound business decisions in support of the hospital’s mission, vision, and values. Demonstrates supervision in providing an optimal environment for patient care, safety, service, and value.
- Safeguards regulatory standards and financial stewardship of department operations.
- Collaborates with other management team members to support the department in its daily functions.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 3 Years in Environmental Services experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of team members and management.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite, MS Project, PM software, and EVS software systems preferred.
- Experience with typical EVS equipment/machinery.
- Demonstrates strong working knowledge of the principles of environmental infection prevention and control.
- Demonstrates strong working knowledge of OSHA, TJC, DOT, CDC Policy and Standard Work development/implementation.
- Bi-lingual candidates (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
Qualifications
- Medium Work - Exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 25 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
Skills
- Working knowledge of cleaning and disinfection principles and requirements, proper chemical, equipment usage, and labor requirements for maintenance of furniture, furnishings, interior finishes for all areas of responsibility.
- Overseeing inventories, usage data, and ordering of consumable supplies and equipment repairs.
- Preparing work and time schedules, under the direction of the Manager/Director, coordinating vacation and holiday time and reviewing daily adjustments in the work schedule.
- Promoting and supervising a culture of safety, hand hygiene, patient experience, as well as employee engagement and retention.
- Supervising the work of subcontractors and/or EVS suppliers for the department as needed.
- Adhering to all organizational safety, risk management, and infection control and prevention standards. Promoting a culture of patient safety through observation and education.
- Coaching team members on the chain of infection and the core principles of the transmission of infectious pathogens.
- Responding to emergency calls and multiple priorities as needed to coordinate staffing changes and minimize disruption.
- Conducting patient and staff interviews to evaluate service levels and promote positive public relations. Actively participating and contributing to efforts to improve patient experience and cleanliness scores and key departmental performance metrics.
- Controlling expenditures within sphere of approved budget objectives. Taking corrective action when variances affect budget.

Pay
The posted compensation range of $19.96 - $31.01 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Schedule
Monday - Friday 3:00pm - 12:30am, subject to change with departmental needs
Qualifications
