About the role
Puget Sound Energy is seeking a Supervisor Engineering - Grid Analytics & Technology Solutions to join the Planning team. This position involves supervising a team that focuses on advancing electric system planning tools and analytics models to address capacity requests, DERs, distribution assets, and reliability needs.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead the Grid Analytics & Technology Solutions team.
- Develop and manage load profiles to assess coincident peak demand for large load interconnections.
- Enhance locational load forecasting capabilities.
- Create locational value assessments for non-wire alternative projects.
- Build time-series analysis tools for DER and load interconnection support.
- Evolve the Hosting Capacity Map.
- Develop predictive models for asset management, climate risk, and reliability performance.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities to employees.
- Oversee training and development of employees directly and indirectly managed.
- Ensure required training is successfully completed.
- Set clear expectations and hold employees accountable for performance and safety goals.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory compliance obligations.
- Facilitate solutions to complex issues involving diverse opinions.
- Ensure solutions align with customer expectations and PSE’s business initiatives.
- Develop and administer team goals and manage/measure performance of technical team.
- Review the work of internal and external engineering staff.
- Communicate solutions to personnel possessing a wide variety of educational and employment backgrounds.
- Plan and develop project budgets with appropriate documentation.
- Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and design, operation, and maintenance requirements.
- Identify potential areas of weakness with assigned work and initiate corrective action.
- Support emergency response work as requested, including immediate and extended restoration efforts driven by weather and other system failures.
- Represent department at team meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or other appropriate engineering field (Professional Engineering license may be considered in lieu of a degree).
- Extensive experience in engineering analysis, planning, design, specification preparation, maintenance, project cost estimating and scheduling (typically achieved after 10 years’ practice as a degreed engineer).
- Experience leading engineering projects.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in working effectively and collaborating with a wide range of internal and external customers.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working within the utility industry.
- Understanding of data structures, software architecture, and databases.
- Possession of a Professional Engineering License.
- Leadership training.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Synergi or CYME distribution power flow modeling experience.
- Data analytics experience.
