About the Role

The Engineering Supervisor drives continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, fabrication, assembly, and cost reduction initiatives. They lead engineering changes, introduce new products, and mentor junior engineers, technicians, and operations staff. This role focuses on achieving short- and long-term goals, developing project plans, executing capital projects, and fostering cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Establish continuous improvement goals and execute action plans.
• Utilize lean manufacturing principles to identify opportunities for cost reduction, quality improvement, workflow enhancements, and technology development.
• Supervise and mentor junior engineers, technicians, and support staff.
• Support DOE, 8D, FMEA, 6 Sigma, and DFP analysis, and implement Kaizen activities.
• Collaborate with Design Engineers to revise and sustain HVAC product designs using mechanical engineering principles.
• Develop and manage project schedules for product launches or design modifications.
• Document product designs, including bills of materials, cost analyses, drawings, and engineering change requests.
• Redesign internal components to improve long-term system quality, efficiency, and cost.
• Develop engineering solutions through root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to launch product modifications, resolve issues, and support improvements.
• Coordinate project work internally and externally to ensure on-time, within-budget completion.
• Develop suppliers for manufacturing equipment and foster continuous improvement in equipment uptime, efficiency, and quality.
• Create preventive maintenance programs to maintain equipment in optimal condition.
• Manage performance, coaching, and corrective actions for employees, liaising with HR as needed.
• Support additional projects to meet ongoing business needs.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• 6+ years of product design experience in HVAC assembly (or automotive/appliance industry).
• 4+ years in a leadership role.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Technology Engineering.
• Six Sigma certification preferred.

Skills

• Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing engineering theory, processes, and practices.
• Expertise in at least two of the following: molding, finishing, tooling, fabrication/stamping of aluminum and steel, assembly processes, or product engineering support.
• Familiarity with HVAC industry specifications and standards.
• Proficiency in lean manufacturing concepts (Kaizen, value stream mapping, Kanban, demand flow technology, line balancing, and time studies).
• Expertise in core manufacturing documentation (PFMEAs, PCPs, PFDs, DFA/DFM) and engineering change processes.
• Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project), AutoCAD, and Mapics.
• Strong leadership, project management, and delegation skills.
• Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication; collaboration skills.
• Analytical and systematic problem-solving abilities, including root cause elimination.
• High attention to detail and compliance with regulations, policies, and safety procedures.
• Ability to prioritize, manage multiple inputs, and deliver results under pressure.
• Adaptability to operational needs and sound decision-making.

Nature and Scope

This role provides direction to Goodman Fabrication and Production departments, as well as the Design Engineering team, to sustain residential and commercial HVAC-related products.
