About the role

The Special Imaging Supervisor oversees the delivery and quality of imaging services, ensuring timely, accurate, and cost-efficient exams and patient preparation. They comply with System and regulatory standards, policies, and procedures, performing procedures as needed and managing staffing to meet needs.

Responsibilities

• Performs procedures as needed due to workload or complexity.
• Schedules, monitors, evaluates, and adjusts staffing to meet needs.
• Interviews, counsels, and completes performance evaluations.
• Trains new staff and ensures all registrations and certifications are current.
• Promotes a culture of service excellence in imaging by partnering with management.
• Communicates service excellence, patient-centeredness expectations, and customer satisfaction survey results.
• Holds self and staff accountable for service excellence in their areas.
• Facilitates reward and recognition in the imaging sections of Radiology.
• Acts as a Radiology liaison to other departments.
• Develops cooperative relationships with physicians and medical departments to exchange information.
• Implements solutions to problems.
• Assists in ensuring the imaging sections comply with JCAHO, TDH standards, and other accrediting bodies.
• Identify patient service needs using AIDET when talking to patients.
• Ensure the correct exam is performed on the correct patient.
• Establish personal rapport with potential and actual patients and others who know about the service needs.
• Coordinates and runs groups on patient safety, customer service, performance improvement, and environment of care.
• Focuses on Employee Engagement, Physician Engagement, Quality Improvement, and Inter-Departmental Relations.
• Participates in mutual governance, department, hospital, or professional organizations and committees.
• Involves QC assurance with radiologists.

Requirements

The Special Imaging Supervisor must have 3 years of recent hospital Xray/Radiology experience and 2 years of recent Supervisor experience. They must be certified by ARRT, ARDMS, or the specialty certification for the area of responsibility.

• Explain the procedure to put patients at ease.
• Able to perform tasks autonomously without need for routine oversight.
• Able to stay calm and helpful during stress.
• Take reasonable steps to resolve issues.
• Able to limit wait times and provide courteous service.
• Remain professional, review patient satisfaction performance, and develop action plans when needed.
• Demonstrate and maintain current knowledge, education, and skills for caring for these age groups: newborn, pediatric, young adult, adult, and geriatric.
• Able to serve as preceptor by providing quality training to new team members and on new services and initiatives.
• Able to make tactical choices about allocating and directing supervised employees' work using established guidelines, policies, or procedures.
• Able to make effective hiring and termination recommendations.
• Able to train and evaluate performance of supervised staff.
• General computer skills including Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.
• Able to take call, if required.
