Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the planning, organizing, and directing of routine maintenance operations.
- Trains and supervises the custodial staff to maintain an orderly, safe, and efficient cleaning operation.
- Requires knowledge in the care and use of power equipment.
- Supervises two or more full-time employees; Makes decisions regarding hiring, evaluation, promotion and termination of employees, or makes related recommendations;
- Schedules work to meet normal requirement without interfering with residents or occupants of office space;
- Directs workers performing cleaning tasks;
- Develops and participates in a training program which familiarizes custodial staff with particular problems involved in custodial services including improved techniques;
- Inspects buildings, rooms, storage space, hallways, fixtures and custodial equipment to observe the results of work;
- Requisitions appropriate materials and supplies;
- Presents and submits appropriate reports and memoranda regarding custodial policies and procedures;
- Recommends budget, materials and equipment for the area.
Qualifications
- Required Education and Experience: Associate's Degree + 4 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree + 2 years of relevant experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Special Certification/Licensure.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
- Environment: Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements: i.e. extreme temp, toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, loud noises, other potentially dangerous materials/situations that require safety precaution/protective equip
- Physical Effort: Considerable physical activity. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.
- Lifting Requirements: Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.
- Risk: Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
