About the role

Maintains advanced clinical knowledge to mentor staff and assist in the development of the clinical staff.

Supervises the Clinical Dietitians in the completion of the Dietetic Technician’s and Clinical Dietitians performance reviews.

Performs nutrition assessments and develops and implements clinical nutrition quality improvement plans and goals.

Interviews and hires new staff and schedules clinical staff based on budgeted hours.

Responsibilities

  • Works independently to direct and coordinate all clinical nutrition activities.
  • Mentors staff and assists in the development of the clinical staff.
  • Supervises the Clinical Dietitians in the completion of the Dietetic Technician’s and Clinical Dietitians performance reviews.
  • Performs nutrition assessments and develops and implements clinical nutrition quality improvement plans and goals.
  • Interviews and hires new staff and schedules clinical staff based on budgeted hours.

Requirements

  • Must be a Licensed Registered Dietitian with a B.S. degree and Master degree or eligibility to sit for the Clinical Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) credential.
  • Within 18 months of hire must hold CNSC or Masters Degree.
  • Maintain Maine State Dietitian License and Registration in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND).
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical nutrition experience preferred.
  • Ability to concentrate and be attentive to detail when assessing and calculating patients' nutritional needs, developing care plans and providing ongoing evaluation of nutrition.
  • Prior management experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Education: See "License/Certifications".
  • Licenses/Certifications: Must be a Licensed Registered Dietitian with a B.S. degree and Master degree or eligibility to sit for the Clinical Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) credential. Within 18 months of hire must hold CNSC or Masters Degree. Must maintain Maine State Dietitian License and Registration in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND).

  • Advanced clinical knowledge.
  • Interpersonal skills in communicating with patients, families, medical staff, and employees.
  • Analytical abilities in assessing patients' medical and nutritional status, formulating care plans, and evaluating patients' responses and progress.
  • Ability to lead and direct a team of clinical staff.
  • Knowledge of hospital policy and procedure methodology.
  • Knowledge of budget principles.
