Supervisor, Chemistry Laboratory

About the role

Manages a team of laboratory Analysts and Technicians. Has limited responsibility for direct reports, including interviewing and selecting final candidates, planning and scheduling daily work assignments, completing performance evaluations, and handling performance management and disciplinary actions. Ensures the laboratory delivers results on time and as agreed with clients. Responsible for compliance with ISO-17025, ISO-17020, ISO Guide 65, and ISO-9001 standards, and may contribute to ISO-14001, ANSI Z10-2005, or OHSAS 18001 compliance as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical expert for the team in study designs, analytical techniques, and data analysis.
• Train Analysts on techniques and methods of analysis.
• Write and review protocols and reports, develop, review, submit, and file reports on client sample tests, correlation tests, calibration, validation, and other projects.
• Develop and validate analytical methods, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and other operating, safety, and quality documents as needed.
• Investigate, respond to, and follow up on client inquiries and complaints.
• Provide technical support to Marketing, Sales, Customer Service, and clients regarding testing, reporting, or technical inquiries.
• Input and maintain technical information to support laboratory functions and operations.
• Complete laboratory tasks and assignments within tight deadlines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related scientific discipline.
• 3+ years working in an Analytical chemistry setting with experience following strict safety standards and hands-on experience with GC-MS, UPLC-MS, LC, and/or ICP-MS instruments.
• 2+ years of protocol and report writing experience.
• 1-3 years of supervisory/Team Lead experience.
• Master’s degree in Chemistry or related scientific disciplines (preferred).
• 3-5 years of Pharmaceutical industry experience in FDA-regulated labs, including GMP/GLP/GDP operations (preferred).
