About the Role
Under the direction of the Assistant Manager, Beverage, the Supervisor, Beverage is responsible for the efficient scheduling and oversight of subordinate employees to continuously improve the quantity and quality of work done up to Yaamava’ Brand Standards and to ensure efficient and economical work operations. The area of responsibility includes beverage areas and assigned bars. Supervisory functions include planning, organizing, training, audits, and addressing employee-management concerns.
Responsibilities
- Assists with day-to-day operation of Food and Beverage venues by ensuring the team delivers best-in-class service to all guests while adhering to Yaamava’ Resort & Casino service standards.
- Oversees all cash management and cash registers to ensure proper cash handling practices and procedures are followed.
- Maintains professional customer service standards as outlined in the Food & Beverage Departmental Handbook.
- Prioritizes training and understanding of team members in beverage preparation and service, responsible alcohol service, inventory control, safe food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures; administers performance management and disciplinary actions as required.
- Ensures all beverage orders are served efficiently and in accordance with Yaamava’ Brand Service Standards and Health Department regulations.
- Determines materials, equipment, and facilities needed for efficient operations.
- Ensures all beverage inventory is purchased, received, rotated, stored, and issued in accordance with operational standards to meet cost and quality goals.
- Manages and expedites beverage product delivery to receiving venues to ensure efficient flow of beverage production.
- Completes all inventory-related audits and logs, including usage, spillage, and complimentary items.
- Ensures the cleanliness, organization, and preparedness of the workspace and adjacent areas.
- Monitors and controls the sanitation of beverage venues to ensure a healthy and safe work environment, complying with Yaamava’ Resort & Casino policies and quality service standards.
- Ensures all preventative maintenance and maintenance of beer systems, beer walk-ins, and bar equipment.
- Works to achieve the objectives of company personnel programs and policies and effectively resolves complaints, grievances, and other employee-related matters.
- Notifies superiors of any internal or external problems or concerns.
- Collaborates with venue leadership to develop and execute department initiatives that build sales, profitability, and cost control.
- Ensures the communication and execution of department-wide fiscal and operational goals.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees.
- Plans, assigns, reviews, and directs work; evaluates and appraises performance; rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems.
- Makes hiring decisions and designs individual development plans with succession planning in mind for all key roles.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Food Service, Hospitality, Business Management, or a related field required.
- Minimum two (2) years of food and beverage experience in a high-volume venue with high-quality food, extensive beverage offerings, and a high-energy atmosphere required.
- Minimum two (2) years of food and beverage supervisory experience in a similar environment preferred.
- Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements.
Skills
- Thorough understanding of local, state, and federal regulations for the sale and distribution of alcohol and cigarettes, as well as San Manuel Gaming Commission Regulations and California Department of Alcohol Beverage Control standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is preferred.
- Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Able to perform simple mathematical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
- Able to manage cash transactions accurately and securely.
- Able to provide friendly and efficient service to guests and team members, addressing their needs and resolving issues.
- Strong communication skills with both guests and team members.
- Able to work under pressure, staying calm and efficient during busy periods.
Licenses and Certifications
- At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, a gaming license may be required.
- Must obtain and maintain a current Food Handler’s Card.
- Must obtain and maintain Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification.
- Must obtain and maintain ServSafe certification.
- Role requires regular commuting between locations; a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance with minimum liability limits are required.
Physical Requirements
- Primary work environment is in a climate-controlled Casino & Resort setting.
- Work requires travel to attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences.
- May be required to work evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
- Strength sufficient to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently; may move up to 40 pounds occasionally.
- Sedentary work involving sitting most of the time, with constant operation of a computer and other office productivity machinery.
- Physical activities include balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
- Hearing sufficient to hear conversational levels in person, via videoconference, and over the telephone.
- Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in person, in front of groups, in meetings, via videoconference, and over the telephone.
- Visual acuity required for preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, expansive reading, and visual inspection of employees, visitors, or facilities.
- Mobility sufficient to safely move in an office environment, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, and operate a motor vehicle for travel to events and meetings.
- Endurance to sit, walk, and stand for extended periods and maintain efficiency throughout the work shift and during extended work hours.
- Must present a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance in accordance with departmental policy.
- May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, including secondhand smoke; reasonable accommodation will be made in compliance with all applicable laws.
