Supervisor, Assembly and Laser

About the Role

The Supervisor, Assembly and Laser is responsible for directly managing employees within one or more Assembly and Laser Departments. This role focuses on improving efficiency through generally accepted methods, employee engagement, and meeting daily, weekly, and monthly delivery and output goals. The individual collaborates with all departments to ensure products are assembled and lasered correctly.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates positive leadership through employee engagement and open communication.
• Leads daily tier board meetings covering safety, quality, production, and cost metrics.
• Executes and creates general manufacturing principles to drive efficiency, cost reduction, and standard work initiatives.
• Manages employee performance by providing feedback and coaching.
• Monitors sustaining and launch project timelines to meet organizational deadlines.
• Drives quality initiatives to minimize scrap, rejects, and non-conformances.
• Develops plans to maximize department asset utilization by mitigating downtime and optimizing work assignments.
• Elevates issues beyond scope of execution immediately upon realization.
• Works with Facilities to schedule equipment downtime for preventive maintenance.
• Supports compliance with federal, state, and local environmental legislation.
• Executes production schedules to ensure throughput of high-volume components and plans resource use.
• Creates self-sustaining production schedules as needed.
• Communicates thoughts and ideas professionally and respectfully, demonstrating effective listening skills.
• Develops, evaluates, and improves machining and manufacturing methods.
• Determines tooling requirements and assists in proving programming codes for machines.
• Provides accurate time studies and corrections for work order estimates.
• Manages planning, scheduling, testing, and analysis of completed parts.
• Provides functional analysis for workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow, and equipment layout.
• Offers strategic guidance to design staff on product design for efficient production methods.
• Troubleshoots programming of new projects from customer drawings with or without code.
• Coordinates with vendors for product specifications, equipment purchases, and quality evaluations.
• Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs for management decisions.
• Confers with management, engineering, and other staff on manufacturing capabilities and schedules.
• Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements.
• Adheres to company Code of Conduct, AdvaMed Code, MedTech Code, and all policies.
• Ensures compliance with applicable governmental laws and regulations through training.
• Represents the company professionally and upholds ethical business practices.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (required).
• 10+ years of manufacturing experience within a highly regulated industry.
• 5+ years in leadership roles, including training, developing, disciplining, and motivating employees.
• 5+ years leading and implementing change in a manufacturing environment.
• Detailed experience machining steel, titanium, plastics, and polymers.
• Demonstrated high performance in current and previous positions.
• Working knowledge of computers and systems.
• Initiative and motivation to drive change and exceed expectations.
• Strong problem-solving skills for production bottlenecks.
• Statistical knowledge and ability to apply analysis techniques to product and process improvement.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing principles, including process, information, and material flow.
• Well-organized, detail-oriented, and a team player with project management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail and self-starter mentality.
• Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

Physical Demands

• Required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
