Supervising Youth Detention Worker (HELP Program)

About the role

This supervisory position is responsible for the operation of various programs initiated for adolescent youth who reside in the Monroe County Children's Center (a Specialized/Secure Detention Facility), usually by court order.

Responsibilities

• Court ordered transporting of youth
• Coordinating and implementing orientation and training of Senior Youth Detention Workers and Youth Detention Workers
• Physically restrain youth when conditions arise
• Provide overall supervision to staff and youth at the Children's Center
• Overall development of procedures and training
• Reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of the Assistant Coordinator of the Children's Center or other higher level staff member
• Exercises general supervision over Youth Detention Workers, Senior Youth Detention Workers and other staff
• Does related work as required

Qualifications

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma plus either:

• Three (3) years paid full time or its part time equivalent experience providing custodial care, recreation, counseling or guidance (including vocational guidance), casework, or instruction to youth (up to and including age twenty-one [21]) in a facility, institution, or agency; or in law enforcement, corrections, or security work, or as military police; or
• Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's degree plus one (1) year paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience described in (A) above; or
• An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above

Pay

$67,656 – 82,409 annually
