SUPERVISING TAX AUDITOR III BOARD OF EQUALIZATION

Job Description and Duties

Position is located in Chicago, IL.

The Supervising Tax Auditor (STA) III (Audit Principal) is responsible for the administration of the audit program in the field offices. The incumbent plans, organizes, and directs the audit programs through subordinate supervisors and provides audit program guidance to field office supervisors. Responsibilities include in-depth field auditing and other administrative activities related to enforcing applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. The incumbent also fosters cooperation and integrates functions between audit and compliance staff. With oversight to field offices, and attending meetings and training, the position requires travel up to forty percent (40%) of the time which may include overnight.

Position requires employee to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a background investigation.

Eligibility for Promotional Exams

In addition to meeting the Minimum Qualifications for the SUPERVISING TAX AUDITOR III, competition is limited to individuals who meet at least one of the following promotional examination criteria:

  • Have a permanent civil service appointment with CDTFA, or
  • Are current or former employees of the legislature for 2 or more years as defined in Government Code 18990, or
  • Are current or former non-elected exempt employees of the executive branch for 2 or more consecutive years as defined in Govt. Code 18992, or
  • Are persons retired from the United States military honorably discharged from active duty with a service disability or honorably discharged from active duty as defined in Government Code 18991.

Working Conditions

- Position is located in a high-rise building.

- Standard office environment (for example, artificial lighting, controlled temperature, among others).

- Daily use of a personal computer, office equipment, and/or telephone.

- Must be able to move/transport materials weighing up to thirty (30) pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
