Supervising Senior Immigration Attorney (Hybrid) Houston-San Antonio Area

About the Role

Our growing Texas law firm is seeking an experienced Supervising Senior Immigration Attorney to lead and support our immigration practice. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience handling asylum and removal defense matters, supervising legal teams, and helping grow an immigration practice through marketing and community engagement. This is a leadership position for an attorney who can manage complex cases, mentor junior attorneys and legal staff, maintain high standards of client service, and actively contribute to the firm’s business-development efforts.

Responsibilities

• Represent clients in asylum and removal defense proceedings.
• Appear before immigration courts and relevant government agencies.
• Develop case strategies and oversee matters from initial assessment through final resolution.
• Prepare and review motions, briefs, applications, evidence, and other legal filings.
• Supervise and mentor junior attorneys, paralegals, and immigration support staff.
• Review team members’ work for legal accuracy, quality, and timely completion.
• Monitor caseloads, deadlines, court appearances, and case progress.
• Establish and improve immigration case-management procedures.
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients regarding their cases.
• Participate in community outreach, educational events, professional networking, and other marketing initiatives.
• Help develop referral relationships and identify opportunities to grow the immigration practice.
• Collaborate with firm leadership on practice-area goals, staffing, performance, and client-service standards.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law and good standing with the applicable licensing authority.
• Significant experience handling asylum and removal defense cases.
• Experience appearing in immigration court and managing contested immigration matters.
• Experience supervising or mentoring attorneys and legal support staff.
• Strong legal research, writing, advocacy, and case-management skills.
• Ability to manage complex cases and competing deadlines with limited supervision.
• Willingness and ability to participate in marketing, networking, community outreach, and practice-development activities.
• Based in, or able to work from, the Houston or San Antonio area.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience handling federal habeas corpus matters.
• Federal court litigation experience.
• Admission to one or more federal district courts.
• Experience managing or helping grow an immigration practice.
• Established professional or community relationships in the Houston or San Antonio area.

Pay

$80,000–$100,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability to supervise and develop the practice.
