Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Chief Nurse Executive (CNE) or the Supervising Registered Nurse (SRN) III, Correctional Facility (CF), the SRN II, CF is responsible for:
- Planning, assigning, supervising, and evaluating the work of nursing and other assigned staff in a service line delivery area.
- Receiving, disseminating, implementing, and monitoring adherence to policies and procedures.
- Applying supervisory rules and principles to resolve personnel issues.
- Setting goals for self and others to ensure continuity of quality patient care.
- Actively participating in and supporting the Complete Care Model.
Requirements
Candidates must meet one of the following experience requirements:
- One year of experience in the California state service performing the duties of a Supervising Registered Nurse I, Correctional Facility.
- Three years of experience in the California state service performing the duties of a Registered Nurse, Correctional Facility.
- Three years of registered nursing experience within the last five years, including:
- One year in a supervisory capacity.
- Two years in a general acute care hospital.
(Possession of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing or a Master's Degree in Nursing may substitute for one year of general acute care hospital experience.)
Candidates within six months of completing the experience requirements may take the examination but must fulfill all requirements before eligibility for appointment.
To obtain list eligibility, candidates must first pass the Supervising Registered Nurse II, Correctional Facility examination.
Pay
Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) reduces the base salary by 3% for full-time employees in Bargaining Unit 17 and related categories, with 5 hours of PLP 2025 leave credits provided monthly through June 2027. Salaries listed do not reflect this change.
