California State Prison - Sacramento (SAC) is a licensed health care facility providing patient services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Located next to Old Folsom Prison, SAC is situated in Folsom, a family-friendly city with nationally recognized schools, recreational activities, fine dining, premium shopping, and access to hiking trails near the American River and Folsom Lake. It is within short driving distance of Lake Tahoe and San Francisco.

Job Description and Duties
Under the direction of the Chief Nurse Executive (CNE) or the Supervising Registered Nurse (SRN) III, Correctional Facility (CF), the SRN II, CF is responsible for:
- Planning, assigning, supervising, and evaluating the work of nursing and other assigned staff in a service line delivery area.
- Receiving, disseminating, implementing, and monitoring adherence to policies and procedures.
- Applying supervisory rules and principles to resolve personnel issues.
- Setting goals for self and others to ensure continuity of quality patient care.
- Actively participating in and supporting the Complete Care Model.
Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) requires full-time employees in Bargaining Unit 17 and related Excluded, Exempt, and Statutory Exempt employees to have their base salary reduced by 3 percent and receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries listed do not reflect this change.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Option I: One year of experience in the California state service performing the duties of a Supervising Registered Nurse I, Correctional Facility.
- Option II: Three years of experience in the California state service performing the duties of a Registered Nurse, Correctional Facility.
- Option III: Three years of registered nursing experience within the last five years, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity, and two years of which must have been in a general acute care hospital. (A Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing or a Master's Degree in Nursing may substitute for one year of general acute care hospital experience.)
Candidates within six months of completing the experience requirements may take the examination but must complete all requirements before being considered eligible for appointment.
