SUPERVISING ENGINEERING GEOLOGIST
About the role
The Supervising Engineering Geologist position acts in a specialist capacity in the CalGEM Central District office, providing leadership and coordination in the review and completion of complex geologic projects.
Responsibilities
- Act as the responsible charge for the review and approval of submitted geologic work including, but not limited to, UIC reviews, complex geologic project reviews, and aquifer exemption evaluations.
- Provide essential leadership and coordination in the review and completion of complex geologic projects.
- Manage and deliver complex geologic work.
- Exercise good judgement and communicate effectively with CalGEM management and staff.
- Act as responsible charge and mentor for geologic work performed by CalGEM’s unlicensed geologic and engineering staff.
Requirements
This position is subject to the Department of Conservation’s Conflict of Interest code. Candidates may be precluded from employment with the department if they, or their spouse, hold interests in oil, gas, or geothermal entities.
Qualifications
Eligibility Information: If new to California state service, you will need to have taken and passed the examination for this classification in order to be hired for this position. If you are a current state employee, but do not have transfer eligibility or list eligibility, you will need to have taken and passed the examination for this classification in order to be hired for this position.
Special Requirements: This position is subject to the Department’s Conflict of Interest Code. This position requires a valid Driver’s License. This position requires a Professional Geologist/Geophysicist License.
