Supervising Engineer (Transportation Rehabilitation)
About the role
Service Line/Section: Transportation and Drainage Operations / Transportation Rehabilitation. Location: 611 Walker St, Houston, TX 77002, USA. The position supervises, coordinates and manages a variety of engineering activities and personnel to identify, evaluate, manage and rehabilitate various facilities and systems, providing technical guidance and training to technical staff.
Working conditions: physically comfortable with some discretion over walking/standing; occasional minor discomforts from temperature/air conditions; extensive use of video display terminal. This is a Department of Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at Tier II Level.
Selection/skill tests: None required, though the department may administer a skill assessment evaluation. Safety impact: Yes – subject to random drug testing; if promotional, candidate must pass an assignment drug test.
Responsibilities
- Provides supervision and coordination of technical personnel and projects or may supervise multiple contracts and projects of extensive monetary value to the City of Houston.
- Provides technical analysis and information to develop solutions and improve systems and plans.
- Defines objectives, evaluates proposals and makes recommendations for projects.
- Prepares and reviews contract addendums, reports, plans, projects and design standards.
