Supervising Applications Analyst

San José Mineta International Airport (SJC) is seeking a Supervising Applications Analyst to lead a team of six IT professionals delivering enterprise application management and frontline technical support within a complex, 24/7 aviation environment.

About the role

Under general direction, this position plans, implements, enhances, and maintains mission-critical business systems supporting airport administration, operations, and public safety functions. These systems include operational and administrative platforms used across terminals, airfield operations, maintenance, finance, and other airport divisions. Responsibilities encompass ensuring system performance, user access management, upgrades, integrations, vendor coordination, cybersecurity compliance, and business continuity to minimize downtime that could affect safety, security, or passenger experience.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field and five (5) years of increasingly responsible professional-level experience in computer applications, systems, networks, or telecommunications work. At least two (2) of these years must include responsibility for the development, implementation, and maintenance of major communications or computer systems.
• Additional years of directly related work experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
• Completion of a Master's Degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of the required two (2) years of experience in major systems development, implementation, and maintenance.
• Federal law requires verification of eligibility to work in the United States. The City of San José will not sponsor, represent, or sign documents related to H1-B or other visa applications requiring employer sponsorship.
• Must satisfactorily complete and pass a fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check.
• This Airport position requires a background check and a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) check. Candidates must be fingerprinted and qualify under all applicable TSA and Airport regulations.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $153,535.20 - $186,928.56 annually. In addition to the starting salary, employees in this classification receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay, included in the range above.
