Superintendent, Self-Perform Group Concrete/Formwork and Framing
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise construction activities specific to carve-out self-perform work.
- Actively seek out direct work with customers in need of concrete and/or framing project work both internally and externally when appropriate.
- Estimate labor, material, and equipment for carve-out work in collaboration with a company estimator.
- Validate budget from the PM’s for carve-out work. Given the carve out budget, it is the intent that SPG can meet or beat that budget.
- Recognize extra work outside of the carve-out work defined by the Overaa PM and notify them timely of the cause and extent of the extra work.
- Provides records daily and tracks separately any extra work that is outside of the initial carve-out scope.
- Maintain a steady workload to keep a 20-person crew working year-round.
- Submit bi-weekly staffing schedule to the General Superintendent for use in staffing future projects.
- Proactively and collaboratively work to solve problems.
- Maintain excellent relationships with Overaa personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, coworkers and project stakeholders including Owners and Designers.
- Work collaboratively with Overaa’s Productivity Manager and Estimator to establish Production goals based on the estimate and manage those established goals.
- Report weekly progress and forecast hours to complete. Identify and implement changes if necessary to positively influence the project’s outcome.
- Work collaboratively with and direct Overaa’s detailers to ensure we create all formwork detailing prior to project start so SPG crews are efficient in the field.
- Manage self-perform activities and track productivity milestones.
- Obtain competitive pricing on all materials. Buyout materials and schedule inspections.
- Promote job site safety, encourage safe work practices, and rectify job site hazards.
- Ensure all company employees, contractors and site personnel adhere to company safety policies.
- Create a site logistics plan and maintain an organized, clean, safe job site environment.
- Complete all Overaa company safety training as required.
Qualification
- 7-10 years of relevant project experience in scheduling, ordering materials, field supervision, quality control, safety and production of all phases of construction.
- Organized with a systematic approach to achieve accuracy, quality and efficiency.
- Expertise in concrete and wood construction.
- Highly experienced in QA/QC best practices.
- Proven track record in a commercial construction environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage diverse personalities.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers and project stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel, and Word are required.
- Knowledge of Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and Viewpoint project manager software is a plus.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
- This position requires working in a physically demanding jobsite environment, frequently in an outdoor setting.
- Bending, stooping, kneeling, walking, and lifting are required.
- Ability to lift 40+ lbs.
- Driving required – must have valid driver’s license.
