Our client is a leading Healthcare General Contractor in Boston with a robust portfolio of projects valued up to $150 million and many new projects set to break ground this fall. They have been in business for over 100 years, manage about $500M in annual revenue, and are known for their strong client relationships and well-staffed projects. Paid parking is available at the office and on-site for long-term clients, and overtime pay is provided for Saturday/Sunday work.

About the role

The Construction Superintendent will oversee and manage lab and life science construction projects, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards. This role involves coordinating with project teams, leading site personnel, and maintaining compliance with building codes and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the successful execution of lab and life science construction projects.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion.
  • Lead site personnel, providing guidance, mentoring, and supervision to ensure safety, productivity, and performance.
  • Conduct regular site visits, inspections, and audits to monitor progress and identify potential issues.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, maintaining open communication and addressing concerns promptly.
  • Manage project documentation, including RFIs, change orders, daily logs, and progress reports.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement, cost optimization, and value engineering.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Superintendent, ideally with a focus on lab and life science projects.
  • Solid understanding of construction principles, methods, and techniques, especially in healthcare or life science environments.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities with a track record of managing diverse construction teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and tools.
  • Valid construction-related certifications and licenses (CSL).
