Superintendent, Field Operations

About the role

American Water is seeking a Superintendent, Field Operations to direct the day-to-day management, development, and operations of facilities and personnel engaged in water and/or wastewater operations in Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning regional construction, operations, and maintenance within established budget limitations.
• Lead the implementation of standards, targets, policies, and plans to ensure increasing operational efficiency, effectiveness, and profitability.
• Maintain operational integrity (quality, environment, reliability, health, safety, security, etc.).
• Control materials through economical and efficient programs to meet cost-effective solutions and customer expectations.
• Encourage best practices and innovation in all operational areas.
• Establish and manage relationships with political, civic, and key stakeholders, including regulatory entities.
• Represent company positions at regulatory proceedings and hearings.
• Execute effective reporting processes and provide analysis for reports, budgets, and business plans.
• Implement and foster employee coaching, development, and idea generation.
• Support Business Development in operational analysis, pricing, and integration of water/wastewater opportunities in regulated and non-regulated markets.
• Ensure effective people management policies (e.g., time and attendance, workforce management) and resource deployment.
• Collaborate with other functional leads to mitigate business risks.

Requirements

• Three (3) years managing operational areas and operating units, and meeting performance targets.
• Bachelor’s Degree in an operational discipline, management, or related technical field, or equivalent experience.

Skills

• Knowledge of the regulated water/wastewater business, including regional regulations and trends.
• Expertise in company policies, management theories, and operational practices.
• In-depth knowledge of process and operational areas.
• Greensand Filter experience highly desired.
• Water treatment and/or water distribution operator’s license preferred.
