About the Role

We are seeking a highly committed, hard-working leader with an extreme dedication to safety and a passion for superior quality. If you thrive managing construction processes in the field rather than in an office setting, this long-term career opportunity may be for you. You’ll manage construction and administrative activities associated with field operations from day one, ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and according to specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Attend post-award review meetings to receive project details and preplan construction activities.
  • Collaborate with the project manager to prepare construction schedules, organizational structures, staffing plans, and equipment requirements.
  • Direct and control the entire construction project to meet specifications, deadlines, and profit expectations.
  • Assist the project manager/engineer with duties such as coordinating material shipments, obtaining approvals for shop drawings, and managing subcontractor activities.
  • Ensure subcontractors integrate effectively with project schedules and progress.
  • Communicate construction schedule changes promptly to supervisors and subcontractors.
  • Assist in preparing job progress and cost reports to reflect actual expenses accurately.
  • Review and approve requisitions, field purchase orders, invoices, and other key documents.
  • Maintain strong cooperation with owners and their representatives, keeping them informed of progress.
  • Work amicably with architects or owner representatives while prioritizing the company’s long-term interests.
  • Hold job site meetings with the project manager and regional manager.
  • Report regularly to the project manager on progress, plans, and potential cost/schedule impacts.
  • Maintain a daily diary to record significant project events, conditions, and decisions.
  • Enforce the company’s safety program across all project phases and areas.
  • Make decisions under tight deadlines and manage multiple activities to achieve desired results.
  • Demonstrate leadership by addressing challenges, directing teams, and resolving conflicts effectively.
  • Commit to quality by evaluating processes, incorporating customer feedback, and exceeding expectations.
  • Act with integrity, supporting company values and maintaining a focus on customer requirements.

Requirements

  • 5–25 years of construction experience, with at least 5 years as a lead superintendent on warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, and/or cold storage projects.
  • Willingness to travel as projects require (minimal travel within the Southeast Region).
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and project scheduling programs.
  • Experience using an iPad or similar tablet (highly preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license in your state of residence.
  • Ability to meet physical demands, including standing/walking for long periods (occasionally on uneven terrain), bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Benefits

  • Company pick-up truck or truck allowance.
  • Living and travel reimbursement.
  • Business expenses and mileage reimbursement.
  • Industry-leading performance-based bonus program.
  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
  • Traditional and Roth 401k options.
  • Tuition reimbursement for associates.
  • Scholarship for associates’ children (up to $28,000 per child).
  • 1-month paid sabbatical after every five years of employment, plus $5,000 for travel.
  • 1-week paid volunteer leave annually.
  • 100% charitable match.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
  • 100% paid 10-week maternity leave.
