Role Summary

The Summit Development Program (SDP) offers an accelerated, 12–14‑month career path in technical sales, logistics, or operations within a $110 billion industry built on technical innovation. Participants learn about Summit, the industry, and customers while receiving tools and resources to succeed.

Career Path

Training begins in logistics and warehousing to build foundational knowledge, then moves to the sales counter for product expertise and sales skill development. Subsequent rotations may include quotes, projects, and operations, culminating in an inside‑sales role where participants work with customers and suppliers to ensure timely material delivery. Throughout, associates complete a rigorous training schedule, collaborate on group projects, and connect with peers across the business.

Essential Job Functions

• Learn product specifications, applications, and benefits; develop deep product knowledge.
• Assist customers with inquiries, provide product information, and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Support the sales team by preparing quotes, processing orders, and following up on leads.
• Participate in sales calls and customer meetings as needed.
• Learn inventory control processes, including receiving, stocking, and shipping products.
• Conduct regular inventory counts and help maintain accurate inventory records.
• Gain understanding of warehouse operations, logistics, and supply‑chain management.
• Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment.
• Develop proficiency with Summit’s computer systems and use technology to track orders, manage inventory, and support sales.
• Collaborate with sales, operations, other SDPs, and customer service to ensure efficient operations and customer satisfaction.
• Attend one‑on‑one and team meetings; contribute to group projects.
• Complete all assigned training modules and assessments.
• Follow company policies, safety protocols, and industry regulations to ensure compliance.

Essential Qualifications

Problem‑solvers who seek to add value for customers are ideal. Self‑motivation, discipline, and eagerness to build a career are essential. A background in distribution, supply chain, or business is a plus, but not required.
