Summer YMCA CLC Site Assistant

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Classroom Lead and Instructor in implementing daily lessons and activities.
• Aid in behavior management, employing positive reinforcement and redirection strategies.
• Ensure the safety and supervision of all children at all times.
• Facilitate transitions between activities, maintaining the smooth operation of the schedule.
• Provide coverage during staff breaks to maintain consistent classroom presence.
• Encourage participation and foster a positive, inclusive environment for all students.
• Assist with classroom organization, setup, and cleanup to maintain a structured learning space.
• Communicate effectively with staff members to ensure smooth program operations.
• Model professionalism and enthusiasm, setting a positive example for students.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in a school, camp, or childcare setting is preferred.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Ability to assist in managing student behaviors and reinforcing positive expectations.
• Comfortable supporting field trip activities and ensuring child safety.
• Reliable, flexible, and willing to step in where needed.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Schedule & Compensation

• Works 10:30am-6pm, Monday-Friday, with an optional 30-minute break.
• Programming runs from May 28th-August 19th (with training dates to come prior to start of summer).
• Starting at $14 per hour for qualified candidates.
