Summer Session Instructor - School of Music, Dance and Theatre
About the role
The School of Music, Dance and Theatre at Arizona State University invites applications for session instructors to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses online and/or on-campus in various disciplines including dance, theatre, music theory, music performance, and popular music.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver course content, including lectures, readings, discussions, exercises, critiques and other teaching activities in accordance with the approved syllabus and academic standards.
- Evaluate student work and provide timely, constructive feedback on assignments and assessments.
- Absorb students through office hours, seminars, or online forums.
- Support course administration as needed (e.g., syllabus preparation, coordination with teaching assistants, keeping accurate course records).
- Teach in one or more of the following modalities: in person or online.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 4 years of industry experience for undergraduate courses
- OR Master’s degree in relevant field, by time of appointment and 2 years of industry experience for graduate courses.
- MM/MFA or Ph.D. in relevant field by time of appointment
- Professional experience and/or teaching in one or more of the identified disciplines
- Minimum of two years of post-secondary teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate level
- Knowledge of local and regional disciplinary ecosystem
- Demonstrated experience developing curricula
- Creative Activity/Scholarly research interests and achievement as demonstrated through performances, presentations and/or publications

Benefits
This is a non-benefits eligible position with no tenure implications. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load.

This is a one-semester appointment, part-time position.
