About the role
The UNT International Summer Music Institute (ISMI) was established in 2014 and has successfully contributed to the college's student recruitment efforts. Over 46 participants have enrolled in BM, MM, and DMA degrees, and ISMI also serves the local music community and attracts participants from around the world.
Responsibilities
- Teach 45-minute-long one-on-one applied lessons to ISMI participants.
- Provide three 45-minute lessons per participant during one ISMI session.
- Advising and mentoring students within an academic setting.
- Teaching standard violin and string chamber music repertoire to students at various levels.
- Experience in professional orchestral performance and university teaching.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in music or closely related field.
- Recommendation by UNT faculty member.
Qualifications
- Understanding of standard violin and string chamber music repertoire.
- Ability to teach students at a variety of levels.
- Experience advising and mentoring students within an academic setting.
- Professional orchestral performance experience.
- University teaching experience.
Skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues.
- Proficiency in using technology for lesson planning and delivery.

Schedule
Hours will be consistent with posted daily hours for ISMI camp from July 5-12, 2026.
