Summer Program Nurse/ Camp Wediko

About the Role

Camp Wediko is hiring temporary nurses for Summer 2026 to work at its lakeside campus in Windsor, New Hampshire. The camp is a 40‑day residential therapeutic summer program serving youth with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. Nurses work under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and the Camp Wediko Director, collaborating with all staff to ensure the physical safety of students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with a team of nurses to provide holistic health care for students and staff.
• Oversee all aspects of youth medication administration, including documentation, scheduled and as‑needed dosing, over‑the‑counter medications, and maintaining up‑to‑date medication administration records.
• Coordinate with the Camp Wediko prescriber regarding medication changes and facilitate medication refills, notifying caregivers as needed.
• Provide on‑site medical care for students, staff, and visitors, including first aid and ongoing medical concerns.
• Coordinate student and staff care at medical centers and hospitals, considering insurance coverage and appropriate facilities.
• Support direct‑care and supervisory staff in implementing healthcare plans for students with chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma, allergies, and anemia.
• Collaborate with direct‑care staff to address individual students’ dietary needs and food plans.
• Communicate with caregivers about ongoing medical concerns, emergencies, and medication management.
• Gather, maintain, and update medical records for Camp Wediko students and staff.
• Complete relevant injury forms and, if necessary, report to the Health and Safety Executive.
• Ensure adherence to Camp Wediko’s medical protocols at all times.
• Undertake additional medical duties and tasks as reasonably requested by the Nurse Manager or Camp Wediko Director.

Qualifications

• Current RN or LPN licensure in New Hampshire or a compact state.
• Three or more years of experience in residential services or the medical field (preferred).
• Ability to travel to Camp Wediko’s New Hampshire campus.
• Ability to stand for long periods and navigate outdoor rugged terrain.

Skills

• Familiarity with Electronic Health Records and basic Microsoft Office Suite programs.
• Awareness of child psychiatric medications and potential side effects, especially in hot and humid environments.
