Summer Program Assistant
Description
Affords assistance with a range of summer programs catering to children aged 3-17. Examples of duties include involvement in various summer camp programs and special activities. Engages in leading physical activities, games, and craft projects, ensuring a safe and enjoyable atmosphere. Monitors games, activities, and trips to uphold safety standards. Enforces discipline, adheres to policies and procedures, and ensures proper equipment usage. Models positive behavior and fosters constructive relationships with participants and colleagues. Assists with meal preparation and service for the Summer Food Service Program. Prepares program materials, assists with room setup and cleanup, and secures equipment. Maintains facility cleanliness and performs custodial duties. Performs other related tasks as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- At least six months of experience working with youth, preferred
- General knowledge of physical activity, group games, and arts and crafts
- Knowledge of programs and activities suitable for ages 3-17
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to work in a team environment and maintain positive relationships
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally

Work Environment: Performed indoors and outdoors. Exposure to temperature changes, noise, odors, dust, and strenuous physical activity. Essential Physical Activities: Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
