Responsibilities
- Ensures the safety of all participants and direct supervision of children in all planned activities.
- Affords assistance to the Program Director, Manager, or Staff Assistant with the program theme.
- Ensures children are aware of rules and daily scheduled routines.
- Attends all staff meetings.
- Affords assistance in the planning and implementation of assigned program needs.
- Affords assistance with equipment and materials for the assigned program/event.
- Ensures proper procedures are followed for sign-in/out of children on a daily basis.
- Reports all accidents to the Supervisor.
- Affords an equal share of the regular housekeeping chores such as cleaning, preparing for daily activities, and cleaning up after projects/programs or events.
- Remains up to date on emergency procedures and remains alert at all times.
- Performs related work as required.
Requirements
- Strong leadership skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Desire and ability to work with children of all ages.
- Demonstrated responsibility and dependability.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. in various forms.
- Ability to sit, stand, or maintain physical activity for extended periods of time.
- Must exhibit patience and understanding.
- Ability to receive and follow detailed instructions.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
- Must be alert at all times, keeping safety in mind.
- Must be capable of working under pressure in a somewhat disruptive environment.
Qualifications
Recreation Program Assistant(s) must commit to 20-35 hrs/wk during summer camp weeks.
Must be able to pass a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) and Sexual Offender Record Information (SORI) checks.
