About the role
The University of Georgia is seeking a Summer Field Technician to perform routine fieldwork in crop research fields in the summer. This position involves caring for various species of plants (primarily corn) to keep them healthy. Early in the season, the primary responsibility will be weeding, while data collection will dominate later in the season.
Responsibilities
- 95% - Perform routine fieldwork in crop research fields
- 5% - Perform green house work
Requirements
- Care of plants in greenhouse and/or field conditions
- Able to work both alone and in teams
- Good communication skills
- Good organization skills
- Knowledge of plant growth conditions, nutrient requirements, etc.
Physical Demands
- Work in extreme heat
- Moderate lifting, up to 50 lbs
- Travel to check on remote research plots at other locations
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license (if required)
