Summer Camp Counselor
About the role
The Summer Camp Counselors are responsible for all activities related to youth activities at The Club at 12 Oaks. They assist in creating, implementing, and overseeing family-friendly events and youth programs, set-up, clean up, and supervise younger members in a safe and friendly way.
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead engaging activities for campers.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment.
- Provide guidance and support to campers.
- Aid with daily operations, including meals and transitions.
- Communicate effectively with campers and parents.
- Handle emergencies and incidents according to protocol.
- Attend training sessions and staff meetings.
- Promote fun and enthusiasm among campers.
- Collaborate with fellow counselors and camp leadership.
- Perform other duties as assigned by managers.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Youth Activities Director.
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent required.
- Must possess CPR and First Aid certification.
- One year of childcare is required.
- Knowledge of Outlook, internet applications, and use of office equipment.
- Must have knowledge of age-appropriate activities and enjoy working with all age groups.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with members, guests, clients, and employees.
- Must possess excellent communication skills including strong verbal, written, and positive interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with members, guests, and staff of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and education levels.
- Excellent team player with the ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced environment.
Skills
- Knowledge of and ability to perform a required role in emergency situations.
- Must work in a safe, prudent, and organized manner.
- Requires the ability to safely lift items up to 30 pounds.
- Continuous walking and standing.
- Frequent lifting, bending, stooping, pulling, and repetitive actions.
