SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR

Responsibilities

• Work with assigned campers to promote safety, independence, exploration and integration into the camp community.
• Facilitate camper self-esteem through positive interactions and building a relationship of trust.
• Demonstrate positive behavioral management techniques and communicate with individuals in a person-centered, age appropriate manner.
• Inform the Head Counselor and other camp staff about health, behavioral, and programmatic issues that occur.
• Actively participate in the camp program with assigned group by supporting campers at whatever level they may need.
• Assist Activity leaders in program facilitation and demonstrate a positive attitude about all camp activities.
• Live cooperatively within the camp community and assist with evening cabin or program responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Complete assigned notes, daily logs, and other documentation thoroughly, accurately and in a timely manner.
• Attend and actively participate in required trainings, team meetings, and supervision meetings.
• Develop free time activities that promote team work, positive interaction and personal growth.
