Summer Camp Counselor

About the role

Silver Creek Valley Country Club in San Jose, CA is seeking energetic and enthusiastic Junior Summer Sport Camp Counselors. The ideal candidate will enjoy sports, have a positive attitude, and be skilled at working with children.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recreational activities for children
• Lead small or large groups on crafts, games, and various other camp exercises
• Maintain supervision of campers to ensure they follow camp guidelines
• Respond to unruly behavior or deviations from camp guidelines
• Ensure the safety of campers, equipment, and personal property
• Act as a role model for campers in activities requiring cleanliness, punctuality, and sportsmanship
• Participate in singing, storytelling, and sporting activities
• Mediate disputes or conflicts between campers to maintain a peaceful environment

Requirements

• Previous experience working with children preferred
• Knowledge of sports, arts, or crafts is beneficial
• Leadership skills are essential
• Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, or crouching
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally

Qualifications

• Education and training: Previous experience working with children preferred
• Knowledge of sports, arts, or crafts is necessary for the position
• Leadership skills are required

• Ability to read and speak English may be required for communication with customers or co-workers

Benefits

• Seasonal position with an expected duration of six months or less
• Hourly rate dependent on experience

Pay

$21-22.00 per hour

Schedule

Midweek scheduling with either half day or full day schedules available
