Summary/Primary Purpose
To provide wholesome, character-building programming & supervision to school-age children.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Aid the program director with program preparation.
- Prepare materials and equipment needed for daily activities.
- Serve meals and supervise the children during meal periods.
- Oversee specified age group and the daily activities each day.
- End of day cleaning, organizing as needed.
- Drive is an essential role of the position.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Education and/or Experience
- At least 1 year working with school age children.
- Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required.
Qualifications
- Ability to be flexible and manage multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
- Good communication skills, both written and spoken, to build relationships with children and their parents/guardians.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.
Other Qualifications
- Must pass all applicable background checks.
- Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside.
- Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.
Physical Requirements
- Good speaking, hearing, and vision ability.
- Excellent manual dexterity.
- Ability to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and/or move more than 25 pounds occasionally.
Working Conditions
- Moderate to loud at times.
- Frequent exposure to the sun and/or outside in varying weather conditions.
- May require lifting and moving objects weighing more than 25 pounds.
