Summer Camp Aide

Summary/Primary Purpose

To provide wholesome, character-building programming & supervision to school-age children.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Aid the program director with program preparation.
• Prepare materials and equipment needed for daily activities.
• Serve meals and supervise the children during meal periods.
• Oversee specified age group and the daily activities each day.
• End of day cleaning, organizing as needed.
• Drive is an essential role of the position.

Supervisory Responsibilities

N/A

Education and/or Experience

• At least 1 year working with school age children.
• Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required.

Qualifications

• Ability to be flexible and manage multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
• Good communication skills, both written and spoken, to build relationships with children and their parents/guardians.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.

Other Qualifications

• Must pass all applicable background checks.
• Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside.
• Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.

Physical Requirements

• Good speaking, hearing, and vision ability.
• Excellent manual dexterity.
• Ability to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift and/or move more than 25 pounds occasionally.

Working Conditions

• Moderate to loud at times.
• Frequent exposure to the sun and/or outside in varying weather conditions.
• May require lifting and moving objects weighing more than 25 pounds.
