Summer 2027 Intern-R&D Intern
About the role
The Summer 2027 R&D Intern will conduct chemistry experiments, perform rubber compounding, take measurements, analyze experimental data, write technical reports, and present results. The internship is full‑time (40 hours per week) for 10–12 weeks between May and August. Candidates must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program and remain enrolled for at least one semester after the internship ends.
Responsibilities
- Hands‑on experiments:
- Run chemical reactions (organic synthesis, polymerization, or rubber compounding)
- Conduct formulation work
- Perform physical, mechanical, or rheological tests
- Literature search and data analysis:
- Search scientific literature to understand the project context
- Analyze experimental data and draw scientific conclusions
- Report writing and presentation:
- Prepare a technical report documenting methods, results, and conclusions
- Present the project to relevant groups
Qualifications
- Hands‑on laboratory experience in chemistry or a related field
- Proficiency in literature searching
- Computer skills: Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Education Requirement
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, or Polymer Science & Engineering.
Pay
Base pay range: $22.00 – $26.00 per hour, determined by education, experience, skill set, and geography.
