SUE Technician III

Duties, Responsibilities & Other Duties

• Operate and maintain a vacuum excavation truck and related equipment safely and efficiently
• Designate/locate a variety of underground utilities
• Create legible field sketches
• Perform simple mathematics, field measurements, and document daily activities
• Perform records research
• Perform other duties as assigned

Experience

• Minimum of 2 - 4 years of utility locating or designating using many types of pipe and cable locating devices
• Preferred: Experience with Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE)
• Understanding basic traffic control and the hazards associated with working in and around traffic and follow safety precautions

• Ability to follow instructions
• Possess the ability to be trained, mentored, and have a positive can-do attitude
• Leadership and mentoring skills
• Basic knowledge of various underground utilities and ability to identify surface features associated with various utilities
• Ability to perform some equipment maintenance tasks (plus)
• Mechanical aptitude (desired)

Qualifications

• Education and/or Skills Required: High School Diploma/GED
• Valid Driver’s License
• Pre-employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment.
