Substitute Temporary Maintenance Technician (Non Union)- 26-50

Temporary position from August 4, 2026 to August 21, 2026, located at all Sanilac County CMH sites. 40 hours per week with a flexible schedule to ensure coverage.

About the role

Maintain and perform limited repairs on Agency equipment, vehicles, and machines. Perform normal building maintenance duties at all facility sites.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with normal building maintenance operations at all facility sites, including cleaning vents, repairing walls, and processing work orders created on AutoTask.
  • During winter months, remove snow from sidewalks and parking lots at all facility sites and salt walkways and parking lots (flexible hours outside normal hours when needed).
  • Ensure building and grounds maintenance equipment are in good operating condition.
  • Recommend modifications of existing quality or production and maintenance systems to achieve optimum quality and verify the implementation of improvements.
  • Implement Agency and program safety and health policies and practices.
  • Perform industrial machine maintenance duties as needed.
  • Load and unload delivery trucks as needed.
  • Deliver incoming shipments to appropriate building/staff person.
  • Adjust building temperatures through thermostats and Trane Tracker controls.
  • Prepare requisitions for purchases.
  • Assist in maintaining up-to-date Safety Data Sheets.
  • Act as a backup for other Tech Assistants.
  • Use internet on a cell phone for work purposes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Maintenance Tech Assistant 1

  • Perform minor electrical repairs and installation, including any maintenance needed in this area.
  • Assist with maintaining all Agency vehicles and program equipment (forklifts, etc.) as needed.

Maintenance Tech Assistant 2

  • Assist janitorial crew with guidance and training.
  • Order janitorial supplies to meet the needs of the agency.
  • Create and update weekly janitorial schedules through Microsoft Teams.
  • Maintain janitorial supply inventory and reorder as needed.
  • Ensure janitorial areas are neat and organized in appearance.
  • Provide backup coverage for cutting lawns, replacing and maintaining mulch, plants, flowers, trees, and shrubbery, weed control, and applying commercial pesticide applications.
  • Paint walls in all facilities, including mudding and small repairs to walls as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Minimum of five years verifiable experience in maintenance and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certificate.

    • Maintenance Tech Assistant 2: Painting, landscaping, cement work, and janitorial.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Lift no less than 50 pounds as needed.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Moderate noise level in the work environment.
  • May be required to travel to other buildings.
  • Exposure to outside weather conditions, chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, and cleaning materials.

Pay

Compensation range: $17.86 - $20.81 per hour.

Benefits

Eligibility for benefits begins the first of the month following hire date. Must work over 30 hours per week to be eligible for medical and café benefits. Paid time off accruals are based on hours worked.
