About the role
Turtle Island Children's Center in Montpelier, VT is seeking a Substitute Teacher for their Nature Preschool program. The role pays $18 – $24/Hr and requires completed early childhood education college credits.
What You'll Do
We offer flexible scheduling, allowing you to choose your availability. Responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:
- Create a safe, healthy environment that fosters the social, intellectual, physical, and emotional development of young children (birth to age 5), in a manner developmentally appropriate and in relationship to the overall goal of social competency.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers to ensure they're following state and program guidelines, regulations, and expectations.
- Work with the team to design and maintain a safe, responsive, and healthy physical environment that promotes the physical, emotional, and cognitive development of young children.
- Communicate effectively, professionally, and respectfully with team members, administrators, and families.
- Actively supervise and engage with children, ensuring their safety at all times.
- Maintain a clean, organized, responsive, inviting, welcoming, and safe environment for all children and families.
Requirements
- Core Qualifications:
- - Basic understanding of the developmental needs of children from birth to six years old; responsiveness to the intellectual, emotional, and social needs of children; ability to work with groups of children
- - Flexibility to work as a team member and part of a learning community.
- - Love and respect for children, teachers, and the important work of early childhood education
- - At least 18 years old.
- - Ability to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry children up to 70 pounds
- - Meet annual professional development requirements, per Vermont state regulations.
- - Willingness to continue professional education in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- - Current First Aid/CPR training or willingness to complete upon hire.
