Substitute Teacher - Ozark Horizon School
The State of Missouri is seeking substitute teachers for Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled. The position involves designing and implementing appropriate Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities, analyzing learning styles, and coordinating behavioral support and communication systems.
About the role
This role requires a professional license and a minimum of 60 semester hours from an accredited college or university, or a Missouri Teaching Certificate. The successful candidate must maintain CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications as specified by MSSD.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement appropriate IEPs for students with disabilities.
- Analyze student's learning style and adapt teaching strategies.
- Select age-appropriate, functional, and safe activities, materials, and equipment for teaching.
- Attend and participate in IEP team and special education meetings.
- Create and implement behavioral support and intervention plans for students with challenging behaviors.
- Create and implement communication systems for students.
Requirements
Must maintain CPR, AED, and First Aid certification as specified by MSSD. The position requires a professional license pursuant to state law. Other qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of the above.
Qualifications
Eligible to be issued and subsequently receive a Missouri Substitute Teacher’s Certificate by documenting a minimum of 60 semester hours from an accredited college or university approved by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Coordinating Board for High Education, or contained within the United States Department of Education directory of post-secondary institutions. OR Missouri Teaching Certificate.
