Application Requirements
- Complete the online application and attach a digital copy of your résumé and high-school diploma or GED.
- After the application is submitted, email one of the following: substitute-training certificate, a valid Georgia teaching certificate, or a valid Georgia paraprofessional certificate.
- Candidates who meet requirements will be contacted by email to schedule an interview and background-check appointment.
Applicants are responsible for the $42.00 fingerprint fee (exact cash only). A valid driver’s license and Social Security card are required at the appointment.
About the Role
A substitute teacher provides instruction to students and ensures continuity of learning during the absence of permanent teachers or paraprofessionals. This is an on-call position assigned based on operational needs.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to provided teaching materials and lesson plans.
- Respond to student inquiries and provide constructive feedback.
- Use computer skills to encourage student engagement.
- Deliver classroom instruction as outlined in lesson plans.
- Create and maintain a safe, orderly, and learning-conducive classroom environment.
- Follow established school and classroom routines and procedures.
- Maintain a professional appearance and remain at school for the entire day unless instructed otherwise by the principal.
- Take reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Enforce rules of conduct that encourage self-discipline and responsibility.
- Monitor students in the classroom, at lunch, and throughout the school.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, in accordance with Fannin County School System Board policies.
Requirements
- High-school diploma or GED.
- Pass a criminal background check.
- One of the following: valid Georgia teacher or paraprofessional certification, or substitute-teacher training certificate.
- Strong ability to relate to students and inspire a love of learning.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to comprehend and follow directives.
